Lagos State has emerged as the fifth largest economy in Africa, consequent upon which, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, disclosed that his administration is in the process of setting up an Economic Management Team, EMT, comprising distinguished individuals from the private sector and the public sector to manage and improve the feat. Ambode spoke on Tuesday at the Lagos House in Ikeja when he received a delegation from the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce on courtesy visit, disclosing that the emergence of Lagos as Africa’s fifth largest economy was very instructive. My attention has this morning been drawn to radio announcements to the effect that I have been appointed Chairman of the Cross River State Diaspora Fund Board by His Excellency Governor Ben Ayade. While I thank the Governor for having confidence in my capacity by giving me this appointment, I am unable to accept this responsibility. I have had the privilege to express my views on the size of government in private discussions with Governor Ayade. I still hold those views. I have also provided the Governor at those discussions with additional reasons why I cannot take an appointment at this time. Those reasons remain valid and I will keep them private still. FORMER President Goodluck Jonathan has said that his administration fought corruption in the country without making noise about it. Mr. Jonathan said this on Monday while speaking at the Oxford Union of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The immediate past Nigerian leader spoke on the theme “Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship”. Responding to inquiries by some of the students regarding his administration’s fight against corruption, Mr. Jonathan said he would not like to “interfere with the legal processes” because “several matters are pending in court”. Hello guys! I'm starting this thread, in response to the several automatic transmission failures, documented on these boards. Now many would state they prefer automatic transmission, due to ease of driving, Lagos traffic etc. Some prefer automatic transmission, simply because it make their automobile seem more "full option". Personally, the benefits of automatic transmission over manual don't seem worth the issues that go with them. We all know Nigerians have this obsession with fuel economy, reliability, low maintenance etc. Do these benefits outweigh those offered by manual, which is pretty much maintenance free?
